The second wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic in Nepal has hit Lumbini province especially hard. Reported Covid-19 cases in the country averaged at least 4000 a day in May of 2021, and remained high throughout the summer. The real number of cases is likely much higher due to a lack of testing capabilities. In Lumbini, Kapilavastu and Bhairhawa, hospitals became overwhelmed with patients and Oxygen was in short supply.

In response to the escalating need in Nepal, Anatta worked closely with our Nepali partner, Lumbini Social Services Foundation (LSSF),  as well as international organizations: Canadian Engaged Buddhism Association (CEBA) and Sell for a Well (Australia) to locate, procure and resource oxygen concentrators, PPE, and essential medical supplies. We also managed local food and water distribution to medical staff and affected communities. Together, we have managed to accomplish the following in a short period of time:

ANATTA COVID-19 Response accomplishments:

Total amount of distributed supplies:

  • 52 portable Oxygen Concentrators
